Help with Luma
Can’t find your answer here? Email info@craftedpxl.com — see § 08 for what to include. Every message is read by the person who builds Luma.
§ 01
Getting started
- Create an account with your email and a password of at least 8 characters, or with Continue with Google. An email account needs confirming: open the link we send within 24 hours. An account that is never confirmed is deleted after 7 days.
- Choose your camera brands in Settings → Account → Camera brands (Android: More → Settings → Camera brand → Primary brand). Luma covers Fujifilm, Canon, Nikon and Sony; enable the ones you shoot and press Make primary on the one Luma should lead with.
- The daily recipe is a new recipe for your primary brand every day, changing at 00:00 UTC. Press ☆ Favorite to keep it — favorites stay after the day changes, up to 100 of them, under Favorites.
- Apply to camera on a recipe opens it as a QR code, beside the settings to dial in.
§ 02
AI credits
Luma’s AI tools spend credits from your plan’s allowance. Each tool shows its cost on its button before you run it.
| Tool | Credits per run |
|---|---|
| Recipe Generator | 1 |
| Image Analysis | 3 |
| Creative Composition | 2 |
| Gear Recommendations (with AI insights) | 2 |
| Q&A Assistant | 1 |
| Photo Spots | 1 |
| Post Composer | 1 |
| Advanced Preview | 0 — runs on your computer |
- The daily recipe is built ahead of time and costs nothing to open. If you are the first to ask for a brand’s recipe before it is ready, building it costs 1 credit, which is refunded if it fails.
- Refills: monthly plans, and Free, refill when the calendar month changes (UTC). Annual plans get their whole allowance once every 12 months. Changing plan starts a new allowance straight away.
- Unused plan credits don’t carry over to the next refill. Bonus credits do.
- Streak bonuses — write a journal entry on consecutive days (counted in UTC) to earn bonus credits, once per milestone:
- 7 days: 25 credits
- 30 days: 50 credits
- 100 days: 100 credits
- 365 days: 200 credits
§ 03

What each plan includes is on the pricing section of the home page.
- Upgrading: open Settings → Subscription on the web and choose a plan. Payment is handled by Polar, our merchant of record, which works out any tax at checkout and sends your receipt. The Android app shows your plan under More → Subscription but cannot change it.
- Changing plan, updating your card, invoices and cancelling: press Billing settings & invoices on the Subscription screen to open Polar’s customer portal.
- When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for; the Subscription screen shows “Cancels at period end”. Refunds are covered in the Terms of Service.
- Deleting your account cancels an active subscription first.
§ 04
Your account
- Forgot your password? Choose Forgot password → on the sign-in page (Forgot your password? in the Android app). The reset link works for 30 minutes. Signed in on the web, you can also use Settings → Security → Password → Send reset email.
- Change your email: Settings → Account → Email → Change email (Android: More → Settings → Account → Change email). Enter your current password; we send a confirmation link to the new address, and the change happens when you open it (within 24 hours). You then sign in again on your devices.
- Change your name or photo: Settings → Account → Display name → Edit (Android: More → Settings → Account → Name and photo). Names can be up to 60 characters.
- Signed in somewhere you shouldn’t be? Settings → Security → Active sessions → Manage sessions → Sign out other sessions (Android: More → Settings → Account → Sign out other devices) signs out every device except the one you are using.
- Download your data: Settings → Data → Export my data → Download JSON saves your recipes, gear, posts and preferences as a file. In the Android app, More → Settings → Account → Export my data shares your data as text instead of a file.
- Delete your account: Settings → Data → Delete account (Android: More → Settings → Account → Delete account). Type
DELETE, enter your password (leave it empty if you only use Google), and press Permanently delete (Permanently delete account on Android). This cannot be undone; the Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data.
§ 05
Privacy controls
- Location: before any photo you upload is stored, the location in its metadata is removed.
- Analytics: Settings → Privacy → Analytics opt-out stops Luma recording your account’s product milestones, and turns off error reporting on that device. The Android app has no switch of its own; the setting belongs to your account, so turning it on from the web stops the milestone records on every device.
- Notifications: Settings → Alerts (Android: More → Settings → Notifications) controls notifications for comments on your posts, new followers and new posts from people you follow.
§ 06
Upload limits
- Journal photos: up to 50 MB each.
- Profile pictures, community posts and recipe images: up to 25 MB each. Luma resizes them before they are stored.
- How many custom recipes you can keep, and how far back your journal goes, depends on your plan — see pricing.
§ 07
Troubleshooting
- “Couldn’t reach the server — check your connection and try again.” Luma needs a connection for almost everything. Reconnect and press Try again or Retry.
- “Could not update your favorites.” Favorites are saved straight to your account, so they can’t be changed offline. Try again once you are connected.
- The confirmation email never arrived, or its link has expired: check your spam folder, then sign in with your email and password — Luma sends a fresh link.
- A password reset link has expired (they last 30 minutes): ask for a new one from Forgot password →.
- Something looks out of date after an update: reload the page. Luma updates in the browser, so there is nothing to install.
- A setting doesn’t match your camera: please tell us which body, which setting and what the camera shows — accuracy against the camera is the point of Luma.
§ 08
Contact
Email info@craftedpxl.com. It is the one support channel, for every plan. It helps to include:
- the email address of your Luma account (never your password);
- your camera brand and body, if it is about a recipe or setting;
- what you did, what you expected and what happened — a screenshot is ideal.
Luma is an open beta built by one person, so replies come from a human and may take a day or two. Ideas are welcome too — see the roadmap.
