What’s new in Luma
Luma is in open beta and ships small updates most days. This page collects the changes you would notice, a week at a time, newest first. For what is coming next, see the roadmap.
§ Week of 28 September 2026
Favorite recipes, and every brand’s settings checked against the camera
New
- Favorite daily recipes. Tap ☆ Favorite on the daily recipe to keep a copy of it. Favorites now holds your recipes beside your bookmarked articles, and a favorite stays available after the daily recipe changes, with Apply to camera on each one.
- Fujifilm: Recipe Studio now has Color Chrome Effect, Color Chrome FX Blue and exposure compensation, plus Clarity, Monochromatic Color (for Acros and Monochrome) and D Range Priority. All 20 film simulations are in one list in the camera’s menu order, including Reala Ace, Nostalgic Neg., Eterna Bleach Bypass and the filter variants.
- Fujifilm: the X half, GFX100RF, GFX100S II and X-T30 III joined the camera catalog, and firmware tracking now covers every current body.
- Fujifilm: recipes that use Dynamic Range now respect its ISO floor — DR200 and DR Auto start at ISO 320 and DR400 at ISO 640 (250 and 500 on bodies with a base ISO of 125).
- Sony: recipes now use Creative Look’s own adjustments — Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Fade, Saturation, Sharpness, Sharpness Range and Clarity — on the camera’s own scales.
- Canon: Sharpness fineness and threshold, Clarity (−4 to +4; not on the EOS R, RP or R100), and the 14 Color filters of the EOS R6 Mark III, R6 V and R50 V.
- Nikon: Mid-range sharpening, from −5.00 to +5.00 in 0.25 steps.
- Which cameras are current and which are discontinued was checked against each maker’s own lineup.
Fixed
- The EXIF viewer showed apertures as “f/f/2.8”.
- Your AI credit balance now updates as soon as you use a tool, without reloading the page.
- After waking your computer, Luma could briefly ask you to sign in or show sample content while your session renewed. It now waits for the renewal.
- Two Luma tabs open at once could sign each other out.
- Without a connection, screens now say “Couldn’t reach the server — check your connection and try again.” instead of a technical error.
- Recipes saved from the generator or the daily recipe were filed under Fujifilm whatever their brand. They now keep their own brand.
- Home no longer reads “ISO ISO 800”.
- Journalling in the evening west of UTC could reset your streak.
- Signing in to a different account in the same browser no longer carries over the previous account’s brands, streak or Recipe Studio draft.
- An open tab that outlived an update now reloads instead of showing an error screen.
- The Free plan’s AI credits now refill every month, as the pricing says.
Changed
- Location is removed from every photo before it is stored — journal, profile picture, community posts, recipes and the vault.
- Changing your email now sends a confirmation link to the new address; the change takes effect when you open it.
- Notification settings only list what Luma actually sends. “Weekly digest email” and “Firmware alerts” were removed until they exist.
- Plans are described in AI credits rather than “AI generations”, since tools cost one to three credits each.
- Amber text is darker on light backgrounds, so it is easier to read.
- The landing page shows its content before the app has loaded.

A new home at lumaphoto.app, and more cameras
New
- Luma moved to lumaphoto.app. Old links keep working and redirect here. Everyone signs in once on the new address.
- Your account, recipes and photos now live with Cloudflare in Western Europe.
- White balance shift and Kelvin for recipes on all four brands, and grain size for Fujifilm.
- The landing page shows today’s daily recipe.
- A notifications inbox that follows your account between devices.
- Canon: the camera list covers 16 bodies, including the EOS R6 V, and Monochrome recipes use Filter effect and Toning effect in place of Saturation and Color tone, as on the camera.
- Nikon: every Picture Control value moves in 0.25 steps, as on a Z body; Monochrome uses Filter effects and Toning; Flat Monochrome, Deep Tone Monochrome and Rich Tone Portrait are available; and the camera list covers 16 Z bodies.
- Sony: the camera list covers 15 bodies, the Creative Looks include FL2 and FL3 with the names the camera uses, and BW and SE drop Saturation, which the camera does not offer for them.
- The gear browser marks discontinued cameras.
Fixed
- Recipe Studio could not step a value written without its sign, such as “3” for “+3”.
- Photo Spots briefly showed spots you had deleted while the page loaded.
- Images load faster, and are cached by your browser for longer.
Changed
- Creating an account now asks you to confirm your email address, and account emails have a new design.

Open beta, and a faster first load
New
- Sign-ups are open. The invite code is gone; anyone can create an account. Luma stays labelled beta while it is finished.
- Continue with Google, as an alternative to email and password.
Fixed
- Accounts created with Google could not change their display name.
- The first page load sends about a third of the data it used to, and text appears without waiting for fonts.
