Concrete Haze Solstice
Designed for late-summer architectural photography when heat haze softens hard edges and bleaches the sky behind stone and concrete facades. This recipe uses the Flat Picture Control to compress tonal range, pulling highlights down from blown-out white sky while preserving subtle texture in masonry, glass, and steel. A warm 5900K white balance introduces the amber cast of September afternoon sun baking off urban surfaces. Slightly reduced clarity keeps edges from feeling clinical, and restrained saturation lets the muted palette of concrete, terracotta, and pale sky breathe without going fully faded. Shoot between midday and 4 pm when sun rakes across facades at an angle and heat shimmer is still visible in the air. Works equally well on modernist towers, classical colonnades, and industrial warehouses.
