Tarn & Tundra Blaze
A high-contrast landscape recipe built for the raw drama of open alpine terrain in October — ridge lines ablaze with dying bracken, still mountain tarns mirroring a deep cobalt sky, and frost-crisped grass catching the low Sunday sun. Velvia's saturated palette is tempered by pushed highlights and lifted shadows to preserve detail in both brilliant sky and shadowed valley floor. Color Chrome Effect adds crunch to amber-orange foliage without blowing reds, while the cool white-balance shift keeps distant ridges a clean, airy blue against warm foreground tones. Shoot between 08:00–11:00 when the sun is low enough to rake across the hillside and the tarn surface is still glassy. Works equally well pointed straight down into a carpet of fallen larch needles or across a wide open moorland panorama.
