Concrete Heat Shimmer
A midsummer street recipe built for the brutal, bleached-out intensity of July city pavements. Classic Neg. renders the heat-soaked urban environment with characteristically muted, slightly faded tones — shadows stay deep and inky while highlights are pulled back to prevent blowout on sun-blasted concrete and glass. The reduced color and lifted shadows compress the tonal range into that signature hazy, airless feeling of a city at peak summer. Grain adds a tactile, sweaty texture reminiscent of 35mm street photography from the 1970s. Best shot mid-morning through early afternoon when the sun is high and shadows cut hard across sidewalks, storefronts, and crowds. Works beautifully on reflective surfaces, heat mirages rising off asphalt, and the squinting faces of pedestrians navigating the glare.
